The driver scores are calculated by assigning a numerical value to each star rating.
1 star - 1 point
2 stars - 2 points
8 stars - 8 points
10 stars - 10 points
Each driver is tied to one of the follow-up questions that is asked after the general mood question.
In the screenshot above, the first answer would be recorded as an 8 and be counted towards the Roles & Responsibilities driver; the second answer would be recorded as a 10 and count towards the Work/Life Balance driver.
Are the Driver Scores and Butterfly Index related?
There are usually correlations between the two, but the scores are all taken from different places. In theory, you could have all perfect scores for your drivers and then a very low Butterfly Index.
What is a good score?
This is a very difficult question to answer because every country / industry / person will have a different scale when answering these questions. A 10 for one person may have been meant as a positive response from one person and a negative response by another. That is why tracking changes over time and against your company averages is more important than any individual raw score.
A score of 5 that has been constantly increasing may be a better sign than a score of 7 that has been constantly decreasing.
